One clip per real day (24 sim days). Left: standing water — surface water depth. Right: land context, trees, water, and animal herds.
GDPWars is a persistent island world and economics simulation. The island runs on its own: weather, rivers, forests, herds, wards (island inhabitants) working, building, trading, and printing money. Time passes every hour whether you are here or not.
Wards are the inhabitants of the islands. A player takes one or more of them under their wing to foster their success. Players are guides and mentors for their wards; the player's success as a player depends on the quality of life of the wards they have taken on.
This is a test release. It is not fully playable yet; development work is ongoing, so keep expectations low. Login is shared with the friendmaker app at friendmaker.kiatoa.com: a login created there can be used to log into gdpwars. Feel free to poke around: the 2D map and 3D views show the live island, the Daily Videos tab holds the timelapses, and the Newspaper tab carries the weekly island paper.
The world is simulated by a Chicken Scheme engine against a SQLite database; frames and reports are published on a schedule. A playable version is the goal.
GDPWars is run by Matt. Feedback, ideas, and bug reports are welcome: matt@kiatoa.com.
